As a FEMP Project Manager, I coordinate and implement Farm Environmental Management Plans (FEMPs) to improve water quality and address environmental risks. I work closely with stakeholders and internal teams to align with the Regional Resource Management Plan (RRMP) objectives for the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council (HBRC). My focus is on developing farm plans that address sub-catchment issues, particularly in the Tukituki catchment, to achieve sustainable outcomes. Effective project reporting, communication, and information flow with stakeholders are priorities. I have established efficient processes for auditing plans and formalised the approval process for accrediting FEMP providers, ensuring continuous improvement to the project. Timely and accurate FEMP data management enables informed decision-making and reporting. I deliver high-quality work, exceed expectations, and prioritize compliance with FEMP guidelines. Improving environmental stewardship and fostering collaboration for a sustainable future are central to my role.

In this secondment role with a great team, I worked alongside planners, consultants, engineers, developers, building consent officers and other internal and external staff to ensure that all new residential and commercial developments met the relevant legislation requirements for reticulation and transportation. I thoroughly enjoyed this role in being able to apply legislation to ensure the developments provided the best outcome for the future of Hamilton and the environment as well as being able to interact with many peers and learn from their experience.

    • Operations Engineer
      • Nov 2015 - May 2017

At Hamilton City Council, in the City Waters Operations Reticulation, I worked as part of a team carrying out day to day operation of the reticulation systems through Hamilton, including dealing with customer complaints and issues. I also looked after the operation of the closed landfills throughout the city. I mostly deal with two main sites which both have an active gas extraction system and leachate pumping systems. Through my responsibility for the four closed landfills, I worked closely with the compliance team to maintain the regulatory compliance for the different sites and through the different constraints on each site. Since I began at the Hamilton City Council, I have been involved in developing a webpage that displays all current water leaks throughout the city. The webpage began as a list, and has developed into an interactive map and further options of what can be displayed on the webpage are constantly being discussed.
