World-recognized SME in aircraft and rotorcraft flight dynamics and control. Authored 2 widely used books on system identification and flight control, and led the development associated software tools: CIFER and CONDUIT -- international standards. Takes a multi-disciplinary integrated approach to handling-qualities, simulation model determination and flight-test validation, flight control design, and flight-testing. Mentors flight control engineers in government, industry, and academia in application of my methods and tools for flight vehicle development.

After a 40 yr. career in industry and government, Dr. Mark B. Tischler recently retired from the US Army as a Senior Technologist (ST) with the CCDC Aviation and Missile Center at Moffett Field, CA. For 25 years, he led the Flight Control Technology group that conducts aircraft and rotorcraft handling qualities and flight control research. Dr Tischler led development of two widely-used commercial software tools CIFER® (system identification) and CONDUIT® (control system design optimization).Dr. Tischler has authored or co-authored over 200 research publications, was coauthor and organizing editor of Advances in Aircraft Flight Control (1996), and author of three textbooks Aircraft and Rotorcraft System Identification by AIAA (2006; 2nd edition 2012), and Practical Methods for Aircraft and Rotorcraft Flight Control Design by AIAA (2017).Dr. Tischler has received many prestigious awards for his work over the years, including named American Helicopter Society Technical Fellow (2007), the rare distinction of twice receiving the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Senior Professional (2009, 2018), and was recognized with the 2020 Nikolsky Lectureship for career-long contributions to advancing rotorcraft technology.

Staff scientist conducting analyses on flight mechanics and control systems of a variety of fixed-wing and rotary-wing vehicles. While at STI, developed a comprehensive flight dynamics simulation of hybrid rotorcraft/lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicles and served on the AIAA LTA Technical Committee. Conducted handling-qualities and control laws analysis on variety commercial and military fixed-wing and rotorcraft. Piloted simulation and handling-qualities analysis of advanced V/STOL aircraft.
