My tasks include UI development and maintenance of database software to implement delivery of advertising media using PHP and MySQL. I was also the network and systems administration of multiple servers running Linux and FreeBSD.Other duties include generating/automating reports, automating other repetitive management functions, and synchronizing data between disparate databases, CRMs, web services, etc.

My main programming project, "GroundTracks" (GT), simulated ground-, ship-, aircraft- and satellite-based sensor networks to "monitor" and track missiles. GT modeled radar, optical and laser detection systems to generate timelines, cross-sections and possibilities of counter-missile interception and/or laser destruction. The programming was accomplished by translating the senior scientist's FORTRAN code, algorithms, and desires into C++ (30,000+ lines) and taking it from text-based output to an interactive GUI with graphical output (a "poor man's" STK) using Borland's C++Builder for Windows. Information about current defense systems was also incorporated into the simulation. In the sensor simulation, historical water vapor data (clouds) from government sources were added to simulate attenuation of signals available to the radar, optical and laser detectors. Almost all simulation parameters could be saved for later re-use. Other projects revolved around getting the real-world data for the simulations and building tools for their visualization.

I was responsible for the annual calibration of the World Standard Dobson Ozone Spectrophotometer at the Mauna Loa Observatory. Great care and diligence in the taking of ozone observations was necessary and earned me my full-time job with NOAA through CIRES. As a NOAA employee and as their de facto employee through CIRES, I had duties of: retrieval and verification of remote ozone data; web design and maintenance; liaison work with our observing stations; logistical support of an ozonesonde network; and more. I also independently conceived and executed an ozone data distribution program that developed into a 1300+ line Perl script that produced daily reports in more than 20 formats for many of our "customers."
