    At the commencement of my role, iQ Student Accommodation was a newly merged start up business valued at £2bn with mass investment from Goldman Sachs. My primary responsibilities included:- Financial accounting and consolidation activities involving regular liaison with auditors and the key investor (Goldman Sachs). - Developed the current consolidation model used as a bridge before the roll out of the new accounting and consolidation software.- Provision of technical accounting guidance to Group companies.- Liaising with reporting teams in the UK and Luxembourg to plan and coordinate the smooth transition of the accounting and financial reporting to the UK finance function.- Development of accounting step plan for re-organisation of Luxembourg entities.- Part of the project team implementing new accounting and consolidation software across the Group.

    During my experience in EY Assurance I was the lead senior on many clients including NZX listed companies. My portfolio of clients specialised in the power and utilities industry, manufacturing industry and the property industry. I was seconded to three overseas offices during this time including Zurich, Sydney and Rarotonga. My primary responsibilities included:- Preliminary risk analysis and evaluation of control environments.- Designing and performing comprehensive tests on areas such as revenue and receivables, purchases and payables, inventory systems, fixed asset registers, intangibles and property valuation analysis.- International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) knowledge applied on technical issues such as business acquisitions, contingent consideration, impairment, intangible asset recognition and valuation of investment property.- Commercial business partnering with financial and non-financial stakeholders to analyse key audit risks such as intangible asset recognition.- Auditing group consolidations of 20+ subsidiaries including joint operations, associates and entities denominated in foreign currencies.- Review of financial statements for technical appliance with IFRS.- Preparation of audit committee reports and reports to those charged with governance.
