CAREER HIGHLIGHTSI recall my appointment as Cambridge coordinator for an international school with a direct affiliation to CIE. My mandate was to help the school operate as a Cambridge centre which produces excellent results. To start with, I had to review the subject selections of the Ninth Grade students; help them choose subjects within all the 5 subject categories; helped with recruiting experienced teachers; enroll teachers on teacher support websites; and train some teachers on CIE curriculum. Thereafter, I had to plan for the execution of checkpoint exams and monitor through each stage and ensure deadlines are met. I organised parents’ conference to explain the benefits of the checkpoints, encouraged them to register their children – most had never heard of the exam; prepared budgets; provided syllabi; textbooks and resources; administering progression tests and using progress checker to provide feedback. Lastly, I had to register students for exams; and conduct the exam in accordance with Cambridge regulations. The exams results were very good with a subject average of 4.9/6 for a new school.o Strategic decision- making with high school principal and parents on students performance appraisal and tailored solutions.o Setting students achievement goals, executing, monitoring, administering CIE exams and corresponding with the CIE ( UK and SOUTH AFRICA).o Providing academic leadership through planning, communication, monitoring and evaluating academic projects.o Training teachers on Cambridge curriculum, pedagogy, monitoring professional development of staff.
