    I was head hunted during my tenure at Terex to join an owner managed group of companies on the verge of being acquired (60%) by Imperial Holdings Limited (a JSE Listed company). I set up a new (Pty) Ltd company, with a new bank account and new GST, tax and all other statutory registration numbers. A merger of two Close Corporations gave rise to the new (Pty) Ltd. I set up a new accounting system, with a new Chart of Accounts, workshop modules, inventory modules, and accounts payable and receivable sub-ledgers. I reported directly to the MD and indirectly to our holding company divisional FD. I business partnered with the MD, Commercial Manager, operations staff and sales staff on a daily basis. Together with the MD and Commercial Manager I prepared the budgets, forecasts and rolling forecasts, I was responsible for month end financial reporting to the holding company with strict financial reporting deadlines. I was the most senior finance person in the company. I was also responsible for all company tax affairs, insurance, and internal and external audit.

    I was head hunted during my tenure at KPMG and asked to join Terex to lead a finance team consisting of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and office admin staff. I reported directly to the GM of Finance and indirectly to the MD. During my tenure at Terex is where my strategic thinking, business acumen, problem solving skills, teaching, mentoring and transfer of knowledge and excel skills improved dramatically. The aforementioned are still my string skills today. I shifted from being the financial controller of the Construction Division to being the financial controller at the Mining and Drills Division. Duties were budgeting, forecasting, rolling forecasts, month end procedures, adherence tp very stringent financial reporting deadlines (as we were part of a JSE Listed company). I was business partnering as well with other areas of the business, i.e. being heavily involved with the GM of Operations to manage the earth moving equipment Maintenance and Repair Contracts. I also managed the company working capital, looked after foreign exchange dealings, responsible for GST and liaison with internal and external audit, insurance companies and ad-hoc requests from GM's and MD. I also prepared quarterly board meeting packs and attended all board meetings and an invitee.
