IxSA aka the Innovation x Sustainability Alliance has been set up to transform Innovation for Sustainability. The prevailing methods for innovation were largely inadequate for sustainability, so a group of practitioners around the world, who are working at the intersection of innovation and sustainability, have come together to forge a new Manifesto for this space. We focus on 6 core principles to maximise impact:1. Intentionality is our bedrock2. "One size fits all" is dead3. Impact, not monetary gain, is our true measure of success4. There is no shame in doing well and doing good5. Mental well-being is the elixir of success6. Inclusivity extends beyond people.Through our manifesto, we seek to ignite the fire in our collective consciousness that will spark sustainability innovation which maximises impact. For more in depth information on the 6 core principles, see https://www.ixsa.earth/Please note that we embody a mindset, we represent ourselves as individuals, we do not have any commercial interests and we are not a company, organisation or institute. We are simply trying to build a movement to make a meaningful difference in our journey towards a sustainable future for generations to come. Please join us at https://www.ixsa.earth/

    • Country Organiser Singapore
      • Nov 2017 - Present
      • Singapore

I founded the Singapore Chapter of the Circular Economy Club (CEC) in November 2017 and have been developing the CEC Platform in Singapore ever since. The Circular Economy Club (CEC) is the largest international network of circular economy professionals and organisations with over 260 CEC local chapters in over 110 countries. It is a not-for-profit and global organisation. The Club aims to bring the circular economy to cities worldwide by building strong local networks to design and implement circular local strategies, embed the circular economy in the education system and help circular solutions scale. In Singapore in particular, the Club is engaged in spreading awareness of a CE systems approach, in building a robust eco-system across stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of more circular models and in developing the grassroots movement, especially in schools. In my capacity as Country Organiser, I often run learning lunches, conduct workshops, participate in panel discussions or webinars, meet with senior management across multiple sectors, mentor participants during innovation labs and run independent CEC events. In just a very short time, the Club has grown its membership considerably and has staged a Circular Economy Mapping session, the screening of Closing The Loop, the world's first documentary about the Circular Economy and has built partnerships with The Responsible Business Forum and The Liveability Challenge, an initiative by Temasek and Eco-Business.With the yearly 80% of unrecovered materials from the $3.2 trillion worth that are used only in consumer goods (McKinsey, 2014), the circular economy is the world’s largest opportunity.

CircleWerkz is an embryonic online solutions platform for “Circular Living” based on the core belief that we all have the power to change the world with every act we perform and with every purchase we make.By inviting people to buy responsibly produced goods and rewarding businesses that share our values, CircleWerkz can help accelerate much needed change and shift the consumerist mindset from a World of More towards a World of Better....from an extractivist economic model towards a restorative, regenerational and circular one. CircleWerkz is actively engaged in promoting the zero waste, closed loop Circular Economy, together with Permaculture, which is centred around the three core ethical principles of People Care, Earth Care and Future Care.Although it is set up as an activist business platform, it going about its growth in a very organic way, discovering new paths and solutions along the way, which can range from how to restore our soils to how to care better for the elderly. CircleWerkz' mission is to find the best in class in sectors that can make a real impact for the greatest number of people and to facilitate the adoption of better global governance for these various issues.

    • Chair of the UWCSEA Dover Parents' Association with a Mandate of Change
      • Sep 2015 - Jun 2016
      • Singapore

Unanimously elected as Chair with a mandate of change, I headed up a team of 23 volunteers. The UWCSEA Dover Parents' Association oversees a 4000 strong parent body and was instrumental in delivering highly successful programmes capable of building a strong parent community, ranging from multiple large scale community events to welcoming new parents to the school to launching new initiatives to support the school's mission. The team and I initiated change in practically every aspect of the association by developing a clear 3-tier strategy focussing on community, mission and curriculum, re-engineering processes, reaching out to the many different stakeholders in the school, re-writing the constitution and launching new initiatives to rapidly change the perception of the Association within the community. By the time I left, the Parents' Association had re-established itself as the heart of the community and was allocated a brand new office in the middle of campus to reflect its brand new status. It was a tough but highly rewarding year!

    • Co-Founder FoodMatters Singapore - First Steps into Starting A Movement
      • Apr 2014 - Jun 2015
      • Singapore

FoodMatters Singapore was created by 3 women with a keen interest in and a tireless passion for health, environment and sustainability issues. Wanting to drive change called for the creation of a platform which could be used to drive awareness on key issues but particularly the impact of one's food choices on one's health and the environment. Together we created a comprehensive programme, which was delivered to the community via workshops and guest speaker sessions. All proceeds generated by the workshops went to charitable causes. To this date, we still have an active FB group of which I am a key administrator.

    • Multi-Media Painter and Glass Fusion Artist - Airtime for the Right Side of My Brain
      • Aug 2004 - Dec 2010
      • Kingdom of Bahrain

The Middle East and in my case, Bahrain, was restrictive in terms of which jobs women can perform. Not being a banker, a nurse or a teacher forced me to look into different and alternative avenues to further my self-development. Always having had an active right side of the brain naturally pushed me into the Arts. I trained with an exuberant Californian artist and developed my own unique colourful style with a focus on "abstracting from nature". Under her guidance, I produced an extensive body of work, which was showcased in a group exhibition. Wanting to expand my artistic skills, I subsequently trained with an extremely talented Italian glass artist. Together we constantly explored new combinations of materials and pushed every single boundary for the medium. Glass is a challenging material with a never ending tension between deep frustration and immense satisfaction. Saying that, every journey from a simple glass sheet to an object of beauty is one of persistence, patience and elation when things work out right. My efforts culminated in a group exhibition with sales to the Bahraini Royal Family.

    • Project Leader - Rapid Expansion of my Business Horizons
      • Sep 1998 - Jun 2002
      • London

I joined the management consulting industry mainly to gain rapid exposure to a multitude of businesses with the ultimate goal to fast track my overall business experience and to add to my already substantial marketing experience. BCG did not not disappoint and used my business skill set to work on bank mergers, rebranding exercises, loyalty schemes, process-reengineering, activity-analysis and overall strategy development amongst many others. It was an excellent period to hone my skills and to understand the importance of finding the right balance between the action mind-set of a fast paced, innovative industry environment and the more contemplative mindset of the slower paced in-depth scenario analysis environment of the consulting world. I got the best of both worlds!

  • The Coca-Cola Company
    • London - Vienna - Singapore
    • Group Brand Manager - If You Can Dream It and Make Money Out of It, You Can Do It!
      • May 1993 - Jun 1998
      • London - Vienna - Singapore

Joining TCCC was like finding the Holy Grail, especially at a time when Sergio Zyman was in charge of the Global Marketing Strategy. He developed the marketing muscle of the company, which was reflected in marketing offices all over the world and in the Company's share price. In the UK, I repositioned the local brand Lilt and relaunched Fanta. The tremendous success of the Fanta relaunch resulted in a promotion to Group Brand Manager in Vienna in charge of Coca-Cola, which was subsequently followed by a relocation to the Singapore office. During my time at TCCC, I was handling multi-million marketing budgets and had full exposure to the extended elements of the marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion, sponsorships, advertising, PR). With a company ethos of "If you can think it and can get a return on it, you can do it!", it is needless to say that it was an amazing period in my career.

  • L'Oreal Belgium and UK
    • Brussels and London
    • Product Manager & Senior National Accounts Manager - Learning from the Best
      • Jan 1990 - May 1993
      • Brussels and London

I joined L'Oreal as a Junior Product Manager and worked in the Laboratoires Garnier Marketing Department for nearly 3 years before moving into Sales. I worked on haircare, skincare, sun care and deodorant brands with full responsibility of the above and below the line Marketing budget. I was in charge of multiple successful launches and relaunches and had a great rapport with the Sales Team. As part of my overall development within the company, I was then promoted to a senior Sales position in charge of the 2nd biggest retailer in the UK. Within months, I recorded record Sales and got recognised for excellent customer service. Working for L'Oreal taught me attention to detail (in cosmetics every detail counts) and speed to market (cosmetics is a highly innovative market with new product cycles of 6 months, speed and execution are king)
