    For Cirrus Logic, renowned for its expertise in developing high-precision analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for a broad range of consumer and industrial markets, I was hired to create and implement a standardized set of Adobe FrameMaker document templates for use with all document types. In addition, I was the senior technical writer responsible for the production and distribution of all the technical documents produced for MSA, the Mixed Signal Audio division. In that capacity, I was instrumental in the publication of a wide range of documentation, including device data sheets, evaluation board data sheets, application notes, reference designs, product briefs, programmer’s references, software guides, user manuals, and white papers.

    Standard Microsystems, a global supplier of supplier of semiconductor solutions that distribute video, sound, photos and data in the home, automobile, office and factory hired me to create a new set of document templates for marketing communications. The templates were needed to support a new marketing communications publishing system to be implemented using Adobe FrameMaker. During my engagement with the company, I produced the Advanced Input and Output (AIO) documentation, large documents with hyperlinked cross-references and multilevel indexes. I also converted Microsoft Word documents to FrameMaker, resurrected useless “contaminated” Word documents, drew complex technical drawings using Visio and FrameMaker, designed complex numbering schemes and created sophisticated lists of tables, figures, and equation. I also created searchable PDF catalogs and taught all levels of FrameMaker usage to the marketing staff and engineering teams in Austin and Hauppauge, Long Island, N.Y.

    For AMD, and then for its spin-off, Legerity Telecommunications, I produced digital signal processing documentation, such as device data sheets, evaluation board data sheets, application notes, data books, reference designs, marketing briefs, software guides, and user manuals. Adobe FrameMaker was the primary authoring tool and Visio was used to create graphics, many of which were taken from pencil sketches drawn by engineers. In addition, I served as the company’s Web conferencing specialist.

    As managing editor of the IBM International Technical Support Organization (ITSO) publishing center in Austin, I was the point person responsible for implementing the use of FrameMaker at IBM’s publishing centers in Austin and all over America. I was in charge of the production of IBM’s highly touted Redbook technical publications. I produced, illustrated, annotated, andmaintained a 200-page training guide for project leaders and a 60-page user guide for foreign technical professionals here on assignment, taught foreign authors and project leaders how to use FrameMaker and other authoring tools, produced detailed technical graphics and screen captures, responded to inquiries from technical professionals around the world, interacted with external publishers such as Prentice-Hall for the commercial distribution of IBM materials, and supervised the activities of five staff technical writers, as many as 30 project leaders, and up to 100 visiting foreign and domestic authors.
