At Evonetix I help to develop a method to synthesise, assemble and error-correct gene-length DNA on a silicon chip within a benchtop device.Some of my responsibilities include: - Planning, risk analysis, execution and management of technical projects,- Technical leadership in areas of interfacial chemistry and electrochemical processes,- Developing functional coatings for DNA attachment and release, compatibility with DNA synthesis conditions, antifouling, - Developing DNA assembly process: design of buffer and operational parameters for controlled release, transport and hybridisation; cell development,- Building and integration of electrochemistry as a capability within the company,- Developing electrochemical approaches to surface analysis, surface modification, molecular quantification and DNA assembly process,- Establishing methods and protocols for MEMS chips surface characterisation and QC,- Mentoring junior staff members, providing technical training.

Worked towards a novel DNA sequencing technology in an interdisciplinary environment.- Collaborated with physicists, molecular biologists, hardware and software engineers and other chemists to deliver integrated solutions.- Made key contributions to the development of surface coatings for a variety of materials - silica, alumina, ITO, gold - and a range of functions - translocation of DNA through inorganic pores with controlled speed, bioconjugation, antifouling, reversible immobilisation of polymeric beads, microfluidic droplet generation and emulsion handling.- Led team responsible for surface chemistry research and service to other departments.- As Health & Safety Officer I oversaw documentation, protocols implementation, inspections, induction and training.
