    Traveled the country, doing sales and marketing seminars to ERA Franchised Companies, I trained the RE agents on sales technique, and the administration employees and owners on Control Data's Unix based multi-user computers. Up until this time a networked system required large, very expensive computers, this was just before Microsoft introduced its small network computers. At the Annual ERA Convention in 1983, Control Data introduced their system, which comprised of a CPU and up to five wired ‘dummy terminals.’ They had a captive market and sold a couple of hundred systems at $10,000 for the CPU one terminal and a printer. Their dog and pony demonstration was slick, unfortunately, they failed to mention that in order to get something out, you needed to put the information in. After fronting the cost to buy, the broker/owners had an 800 number for support. I had already had a disaster when I had purchased my first computer, an IBM with one floppy disk and no hard drive. I took it upon myself to learn the new system and spent an untold number of hours on the #800-support line. When I sold my RE company, Control Data was desperate. The brokers for the most part packed everything they had bought and put it in storage. When I sold my company, Control Data ‘made me an offer I couldn't refuse.’ In the course of time when I wasn't working for a Broker, I collaborated with a code specialist and wrote the manual for a financial program for a Real Estate company.
