As Content Manager at the Absa Cape Epic, part of the Epic Series, I am responsible for all outbound, and inward-facing content of the event.The mountain biking market is a highly specific one and I have been leading the content strategy, creation and implementation, and dissemination to ensure that the race maintains its status as the world's premier mountain bike stage race.The Absa Cape Epic is the largest timed mountain bike stage race in the world and attracts riders from over 50 nations each year. It is the pinnacle event in the Epic Series - a series of races held across the globe (South Africa, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Andorra, and more to come). My role sees me working with the international teams on a daily basis to craft copy and direct content creation to sell race entries, inform participants of various updates, and to not only maintain the brands' reputation, but to always make the Absa Cape Epic and, by extension, the Epic Series the ultimate race(s) for mountain bikers all over the world.I oversee the daily running of social media, website content management, content conceptualisation, creation and implementation, and manage the paid social media of the various races.During the event period, I manage the on-the-ground content team which consists of international journalists, local and international video content creators, social media managers and content creators, and the internal social media manager. I am responsible for the content direction and quality control with the aim of ensuring that every piece of content enforces our brand messaging.
