    'Just one of those things"...a Manhattan transplant, I wanted one of those beautiful brick bow-fronts which were so like the Manhattan brownstones I couldn't afford. The purchase on Upton 'Street started a real estate career I didn't know I had, but which led to fixing up beautiful old South End properties. Those fix-ups are now keeping me comfortable in my old age.

    My then partner, Ned Newdick and I, rehabilitated two run-down bow-front buildings in Boston's South End, turning them into fourteen choice condominiums which are still bringing top prices today.Our emphasis was on keeping the beauty of the old and adding the sleekness of contemporary design. Ned Newdick, who was also a horticulturist, created some of the South End's loveliest pocket gardens, our own complete with pool and revolving waterfall, brick patio, steps, and a bloomingcrabapple tree surrounded with flowering plants. My Madison Avenue skills and long years living in Manhattan contributed to a knowledge of what sophisticated urban homeowners would enjoy in their city surroundings.
