Life can certainly be challenging some days, but like many people I see each new day as an opportunity to keep growing and challenging myself to move forward.Recently I really stepped out of my comfort zone and went back to graduate school to become a licensed occupational therapist. This is no small feat. It is an 86 credit masters program (think a BA/BS is 120 credits). I love it! It was the right choice even at an age when many people are looking to retire. In April of 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. Just 4 days after walking across the stage to receive my degree in occupational therapy, I underwent a radical hysterectomy followed by 6 weeks of concurrent chemo-radiation. I have learned a lot about the process of being ‘disabled’ and what the road to recovery looks like.
