I assisted in the production oversight and DTI rebate incentive administration for a wildlife programming hub that created the biggest 4K delivery out of Africa - 80 hours of programming for a Canadian client. Designed and oversaw the skills development component of the project.

As Line Producer in the Development Department I assisted in taking shows from concept to production. I line produced "Bitten: Sarah Graham Cooks Cape Town", a 13 part lifestyle cooking programme for SABC3 and international distributor DCD Rights (SAFTA winner for Best Variety Show 2013) & "Generation Free" a 13 part documentary series celebrating 20 years of democracy for free-to-air broadcaster e.tv. I spent the majority of my time on budgeting and scheduling shows in development and handling pre-production of the company's own IP shows.

Following the closure of Clockwork Zoo, I worked for its owner Waterfront Studios wrapping up DTI and co-production claims for outstanding animation projects. In addition to this, as a member of Just Producers, the content creation division of Waterfront Studios, I was involved in co-ordinating the collective of 8 producers and providing line production leadership on projects. I was involved in PR/ marketing of WFS, re-launching its website and driving its daily Facebook presence, driving MipCom new business development and proactively developing new reality and factual content.

Line Producer: Co-production and International Work

Specialized in facilitating financing of international animation co-productions by obtaining official co-production status on projects with NFVF and incentives from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). I maintained overall financial control on co-productions and helped to promote the relationship between Clockwork Zoo and international partners. I grew new business through building a network of international contacts and all logistics of attending events such as MipCom, MipTV and other markets. Created and distributed press releases and promoted the profile of the company in the animation industry and through the media. I was involved in promotion of training initiatives such as the Animation Industry Development Initiative (AIDI). I line produced a portion of the 10 part series South African Story with Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2010.

Worked in the animation department of this internationally-respected sports marketing company. Alongside a strong track record in youth live shows, the new animation department produced South Africa’s first full-length home-grown animated kids show URBO: The Adventures of Pax Afrika (104 x 24 min) on SABC3. I supervised a team of 50 staff putting out two episodes of 24 minutes every two weeks. I was also involved in the development team of four new shows, oversaw marketing and media, training and staff development, as well as promoting the animation studio internationally. We were also involved in foreign facilitation work, for example servicing a French stop-motion puppet show.

Joined a small documentary company in Cape Town, providing support to two fulltime directors/producers and varying crews depending on size of projects. Work included production management for three 26 minute documentaries, support on a 90 minute documentary, funding applications and proposal writing for films in development, administration of film festivals and distribution of films, research and producing for fortnightly Kunskafee arts inserts and general administrative support for the company. In 2006 we produced an innovative reality/cultural documentary series for SABC1 called Headwrap. From 2006 I was a partner/shareholder in Plexus Films.

Taught Television fourth year students as course co-ordinator for the tv specialisation, which accommodated 16 students per year. The course provided the learner with a practical understanding of general television production and the ability to put them into practice in a wide variety of genres. I also supervised 26 short documentary film projects. Excellence in student work was recognised in many competitions, including the international Dubai Media City Ibda’a Creativity Awards, the Avanti Awards, The Apollo Theatre Film Festival, the NTVA Dolphin Awards, the Vuka! Newcomer Awards and MNet Edit Awards. Practical modules were supported by an intensive theoretical semester course focussing on documentary filmmaking practice. In addition to post-grad teaching, in 2004 I started teaching a first year level course about Television Genres.
