In this research assistant role leading into my M.Sc. work, I was introduced to CAD and simulation using SolidWorks. My primary project during the summer was to simulate the thermal response of the electronics enclosure for a high-altitude balloon instrument prototype, and implement methods of passive thermal control for the improvement of the electronics enclosure performance across extremely variable environmental operational conditions. I was also responsible for liaising with local machine shops in order to have custom-designed parts fabricated for this thermal control application.

As a summer student with the atmospheric research group, I wrote utility software for support of atmospheric gas retrievals being performed by graduate students, faculty, and staff. This work introduced me to standard programming practices around data analysis and modelling. I gained valuable experience using version control and continuous integration tools like git and Docker while working with an existing code base collaboratively with multiple professionals.
