I oversaw research and operations for an academic research center within the MIT Sloan School of Management. I sought to optimize the impact of MIT CISR research findings with academics, executives, and the general public. I edited research, fund-raised, developed new products, cultivated partners, planned events, managed our talent, and guided our digital experience. I served on the MIT Sloan Executive Education committee and participated in the MIT delta v entrepreneurial accelerator program.MIT CISR studies how established companies are redefining their value propositions through a portfolio of digital offerings. Large, complex companies fund the center and receive member benefits. The research is available free at cisr.mit.edu. The mission of MIT is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.

700 & Above Employee
-
Vice President and Research Director
-
Apr 2012 - Aug 2015
I led a team of analysts who provided research and advisory services to Enterprise Architects on emerging technology, application consolidation, information strategy & architecture, data management and content management. I coordinated planned content across the firm and edited my analysts' research reports. I learned how to coach and provide direction to senior professionals. My priority was to develop a high-performing and collegial team working towards a common goal.

Senior Analyst
-
Nov 2007 - Apr 2012
I covered the search industry for Forrester, an independent market research firm. I sharpened my analytical and communication skills -- interviewing, writing, consulting, and presenting. After 4+ years managing tech projects at Abbott, I could relate to the challenge our clients faced in developing roadmaps and business cases. This job provided a window into how vendors manage and market their products, and how complicated the evaluation process can be for both sides.

Project Manager, Knowledge Management
-
Feb 2003 - Nov 2007
I worked closely with tech vendors, developers, and enterprise architects to deliver enterprise search capability. With guidance from seasoned mentors, I learned how to cultivate strategic partnerships with business and technical colleagues in different divisions and business units. I led the redesign of the search user interface within corporate brand guidelines. I learned the importance of cross-functional teamwork as I developed metadata schema for a digital asset management system, email and collaboration environments. A career highlight was the successful launch of the global intranet in 2004, an experience in intrapreneurship and change management I have drawn on ever since.

During and after graduate school I worked as an independent consultant for Fortune 500 clients. Sample projects: • Created a database of 3,000 + records searchable by 38 attributes for RandMcNally • Built a thesaurus to integrate with website search engine for the U.S. Army• Performed an information audit to ascertain how information flows in the organization and to identify barriers to efficient use of information for Unilever.• Developed a consistent and scaleable organization scheme for a web-based collection of intellectual property for State Farm.

Manager, Research and Donor Relations
-
Aug 1998 - Aug 2000
After several years at WGBH in Boston, I moved to Chicago and continued my career in fundraising. I analyzed the results of a 3rd party electronic screening of the 200,000 member database. I generated new fundraising initiatives with timelines, milestones and deliverables. I loved the data mining and information classification aspects of this role and was inspired to attend graduate school in library and information science.
