    Thanks to selection by PCRM (Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine) in Washington DC, I just completed training to teach and empower individuals to take control of their health, prevent chronic diseases and regain control of their weight by eating whole, plant-based foods. We show how the body really wants to cure itself if individuals simply provide the proper nutritional and other lifestyle tools it needs.Classes are ideally taught in 4 to 9 session series. The Food For Life curricula is offered on the topics below:• "Diabetes Initiative: The Power of Food for Diabetes Prevention and Treatment" • "Cancer Project: The Power of Food for Cancer Prevention and Survival"• "Kickstart Your Health: The Power of Food for Healthy Weight Management”• "Kids Health: The Power of Food for a Healthy Start”• "Food for Life: Employee Wellness Program"Food For Life programs are all evidence-based, scientific research about nutrition and are not sales outlets for pills, potions, supplements or any specific foods. Recommendations are neither based on fad diets nor any political spin or food industry ties. We simply and effectively educate the public with the facts on which foods to eat and why, plus how to prepare them. Participants not only get to eat the foods prepared in class, but go home with notes and recipes for healthy foods obtained from their private gardens, local farmers and/or the produce section of their supermarket.With all the confusion and conflicting reports about nutrition such as low carb vs high carb, low fat vs high fat, sensationalized news media stories, and 'scientific' results spun by organizations selling products, our classes are a wonderful way for consumers to learn the truth. The classes illustrate how eating properly will vastly and quickly benefit health, prevent most chronic diseases and often even reverse heart disease, some forms of cancer and Type II diabetes.

    The purpose of the "Eat Smart, Live Longer" club is to educate and motivate members (over 500 dues paying members and growing!) to eat a whole foods, plant-strong diet so they can improve their lives and avoid or minimize common chronic health conditions as well as avoid or reduce medications.We believe it is important that all of our members see the 2011 documentary, "Forks Over Knives" because it provides the science behind the purpose of the club. The major storyline in this 90-minute film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell of Cornell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn of Cleveland Clinic and explains quite clearly how most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict our society can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.Our general membership monthly meetings are on the 3rd Thursday at 7 pm in Pinckney Hall.

    "Healthy Eating with Leslie" is all about tasty recipes using healthy ingredients! I also share time-saving tips and demonstrate a few of my favorite kitchen gadgets. This all-volunteer-produced show is a simple way for residents of Sun City Hilton Head to start eating better by substituting healthy ingredients into easy to prepare meals.This show is on hold while I pursue other endeavors. We are, after all, volunteers and it's a heck of a lot of work for all. Still hope to add more episodes! Stay tuned to have old episodes uploaded to my channel.

Largely a referral business (although pre-desktop publishing) I did design business cards and a brochure and had the audacity to solicit door to door dropping trendy client names they were sure to know. Easy-peasy and fun money while a full time student.

    Awarded the coveted position of oldest-elegible-school-age-kid-of-the-eldest-partner as "janitor" for Dad's medical practice. Often gross but rarely difficult, this job taught me the value of the dollar, responsibility of showing up to do a job six days a week from the age of twelve and the managerial duty of training the "next in line" to fill in during occasional family vacations. And for the record, while not too far a walk from school, it was a very long three miles to and from home before I got my drivers license.
