Whilst still based in Gurgaon, India I am now responsible for the Business Service Centre (BSC) Delivery team based in Gurgaon, India and also the regional BSC teams based in 10 locations throughout the world. . I have a team of approx 510 finance and accounting specialists and we undertake end to end accounting and business services for IHG world wide and also for 300 managed hotels. This now entails global responsibility for the Business Service Centres provide accounting services to IHG Corporate locations globally and managed hotels. The services include accounts payable, billing and collections, IHG corporate accounting, hotel accounting, indirect taxes, audit, governance and compliance, SOX in the approx 100 countries in which IHG operates. As IHG is a publicly listed company this entails high levels of governance and control and all audit and SOX work is performed at the centre..

In this role I was based in Singapore as part of the Global Business Service Centre (BSC) and my role covered the BSC services in Asia, Middle East and Africa and Greater China (AMEA/GC). I work closely with existing IHG and hotel customers to provide enhanced and new services to the business. I work very actively on expanding services throughout AMEA and GC and look at how we can best provide accounting and business support services in each of the countries in which we operate. I have recently launched hotel accounting services in Japan in the Japanese language using our PeopleSoft platform. This has been a long term strategic project to support managed hotels in Japan.

In this role I was based in the Sydney Corporate office undertaking financial analysis and internal audits at hotels throughout Asia Pacific. I spent 6 months based in Indonesia, project work on NZ for 5 months, sale, rebarnding and deflagging of hotels in Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne, Asset Management in Sydney and fraud review in PNG. This enormous variety of experiences built on my hotel knowledge and gave me a greater understanding of all areas of the business. During this period SPHC was acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group.

This role was during teh time that Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation (SPHC) was the hotel manager and was a transfer from my Area role in papua New Guinea. The role covered most aspects of business for the resort and many of the associated businesses. This included the Northern Territory Housing Corporation, Indigenous Tour Operators, Airport Corporation, Shopping centre and 7 hotels and camp grounds offering services from budget to 5 star. I relocated from here to SPHC corporate office when the contract with the owners was terminated. Challenges included maintaining a highly skilled and committed work force in a remote location. The position was based at the resort in Yulara NT.

In this role I was responsible for 4 hotels covering two different owner groups. Three of the hotels were in Port Moresby and one in Rabaul. This challenging role embraced all aspects of Finance and Company Secretarial work and was especially enjoyable due to the opportunity to work with Papua New Guinea staff and help develop and train the team and build finance capability within each of the local operations. Governance, training and development were key aspects of this role.
