'Leadership Qualities of Business Leaders for Improving Health' is one of the six projects within our Culture of Health program. We perform qualitative research with trailblazing CEOs to explore why they prioritize health/well-being in their business strategies/operations, and what other CEOs can do to learn from them. I have played a central role in designing, conducting interviews, and analyzing data for this qualitative research.

Designed and managed a joint initiative between the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and the Harvard Business School focused on helping businesses find sustainable long-term practices that can improve consumer, community, employee, and environmental health through their business practices. Our four-year, six-part program focuses on convening public health and business thought leaders, conducting quantitative and qualitative research measuring business practices that promote wellbeing, and training executives on how to implement these learnings into their businesses.I offer strategic direction, content development, and cross-program synthesis to a team of 52 faculty and staff and serve as program ambassador with business executives, C-Suite leaders, and heads of foundations and NGOs. Funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and led by Principal Investigator Dr. Howard Koh, former Assistant Secretary of Health during the Obama administration, our team of 19 HBS/HChan faculty, 12 staff, and 14 advisory council members have benchmarked 1000 U.S.-based businesses on their involvement in improving health, developed two C-Suite executive education training programs and a free MOOC, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research around the potential role business can play in improving health and well-being.Check out our website at cultureofhealth.harvard.edu.

I co-designed the Mediterranean Social Entrepreneurship SenseTour as a pilot project with Makesense. We spent five months mapping the social entrepreneurial (socent) ecosystem around the Mediterranean, framing challenges with start-up socents, hosting design thinking workshops, and training employees at local incubators and accelerators to facilitate their own design thinking workshops for local social entrepreneurs. In total, we landscaped 16 countries, conducting 34 workshops for social impact start-ups, presenting results at 7 global conferences, and inspired 25 other issue-specific SenseTours globally.
