    From 1969 to 1973, I served as a division officer on a Navy destroyer (DD), a department head and senior watch officer on a Navy landing ship tank (LST), and a legal and administrative officer as well as managing helicopter flight deck operations on a Navy command and control ship (LCC). I qualified as Officer of the Deck - Formation Steaming on all three ships, and was the battle stations and maneuvering officer-of-the-deck on the LCC. During 1974 and 1975, I was a Training Representative at US Navy Fleet Training Group San Diego where I managed on-board underway operational training for 12 US Navy combat vessels and one commercial oil tanker. I survived four deployments/tours to the Vietnam theater of operations between 1969 and 1973.
