Paralegal/Title Processor
-
Oct 1998 - Mar 2008
For ten years I was the administrative leader at CTC. I led the company through a critical restructuring when there was a change in ownership and trained new employees after the change thereby forming a new and effective team to sustain the company’s success.I took complete management and fiscal responsibility when the owner was absent. As a paralegal for Consumers Title Company I had full responsibility for preparing property transfer and refinance closings. My job included title review, identification and clearing of liens and judgments, preparation of title commitment and obtaining payoffs on outstanding indebtedness. Using Landtech or Ramquest software, I generated all documents required to complete the transaction. In special circumstances I drafted documents specific to individual closings. After settlement I processed the file for return to the lender, generate and disburse checks and prepare the relevant original documents for recording by the city or county. When recorded documents are returned I produce the title policy for the owner and/or lender and close the file. In addition to these duties I respond to any post closing inquiries and perform general administrative office work, correspondence, etc. I have extensive experience in Baltimore City real property, encompassing an understanding of ground rents, tax liens and the specific issues which apply to them.

As an independent consultant, I was the Developer’s Representative for major historic preservation projects in Russia. My responsibilities included grant writing, extensive historical research in land records and building records in several foreign countries to support the legitimacy of the projects, as well as acquisition negotiations including funding and incorporation for the sponsoring organizations. Under my direction an international team successfully obtained grant funds for a major historic restoration and completed two projects while dealing with great political upheaval.
