Founding Architect
-
Apr 2021 - Present
As one of the initial backend engineers, I have worked on many portions of our SaaS product running in AWS. Much of my focus has been on services for ingesting, processing, organizing, and securing customer meeting data.

-
Chief Architect/Fellow
-
Oct 2017 - Apr 2021
-
Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
At Forcepoint, I built and ran an architectural team that supported all of Forcepoint's commercial offerings. This architectural team supported development teams across the United States, Europe, and Israel. Much of my focus was developing new SaaS products and integrating existing products with public cloud-based services.

-
Senior Systems Architect
-
Jan 2017 - Oct 2017
-
Ann Arbor, Michigan
I designed and built Cogitai's cloud learning platform, which collects data streams and runs reinforcement and continual learning algorithms. I chose AWS services and other technologies for building the platform.

-
Chief Architect
-
Aug 2005 - Jan 2017
-
Ann Arbor, Michigan
As chief architect, I oversaw and led the technical direction for Arbor Networks' security products and managed a team of architects working in each product team. I led the design and implementation of Arbor's first Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) scrubbing product that became the core of Arbor's DDoS prevention solutions.

As co-PI, I worked on a research project (Diamond) that enabled interactive searching over large (multi-terabyte) complex data sets, such as images and videos. Our solution enabled efficient brute-force analysis by moving computation to the storage devices. This approach allowed the storage layer to optimize software evaluation and quickly eliminate uninteresting data. We tested our project with two applications: image search and forensic video search.

-
Principal Staff Architect
-
Sep 1999 - Jul 2002
-
San Jose, CA
As an architecture team member, my responsibilities included developing a runtime environment and high-level APIs for the Intel IXP family of Network Processors to simplify application development. I worked closely with the hardware architects to evaluate how proposed features affect software performance and programmability.

-
Member of Technical Staff
-
Dec 1997 - Sep 1999
-
Mountain View, CA
As an early team member, I was a key contributor to the design and implementation of the NetBoost software. This software allowed application developers to run their software on NetBoost's network-optimized processor, all while programming in high-level languages.

During my thesis, I provided access to a distributed file system over low-bandwidth and intermittently available networks. My goal was to improve user experience using the file system by optimizing network utilization and reducing traffic. I implemented my research ideas on the Andrew File System (AFS), running on various UNIX operating systems.
