My responsibilities included all activities for over 3500 alumni in the greater Portland area. The Mission of our Alumni Chapter is threefold: Promote the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, education and BYU.Scholarships were a major focus. The generosity of several alumni and friends of BYU made Replenishment Grants available which we awarded each year.FARMS (Foundation for Ancient Reasearch and Mormon Studies) Symposia were conducted once or twice each year. BYU Performing Arts groups presented concerts annually. The Young Ambassadors performed at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the BYU Ballroom Dance Company performed at the Newmark Theater in Portland."Back to School Events" were barbeque picnics with entertainment provided by Jim Band.We did not hold fund raising events. Each event was self funding. Excess funds were added to the Replenishment Grant.

Systems Development Manager

Jul 1981 - Sep 1986

Fort Worth, Texas
Developed a detailed five year automation plan for all financial, trust, administrative and human resource systems. This included taking these systems from a Facilities Management Processor and installing them at a new data center. It also included bringing all systems to state-of-the-art status via enhancements and/or replacement of existing systems. The plan was fully implemented three months ahead of schedule.Over a two year period, hired, trained and organized a staff of 30 system professionals (including 10 contractors) to implement the aforementioned plan. Much of our success was due to my insistence that all systems work be done via project teams which I organized and which included user representation as full time participants on the project teams.
