Conducting research both supervised and independently. This project is part of a larger project aimed at developing and characterising a new material for low to medium temperature direct alcohol fuel cells. The materials are mesoporous silicates impregnated with proton conducting phosphotungstic acid. The methods used to characterise the materials include small angle x-ray scattering, infrared transmission studies, near edge x-ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, quasi-elastic neutron scattering, electro-chemical impedance studies, and nitrogen adsorption isotherm. Due to the scale and depth of the project, it involves significant collaboration, and the use of large scale research facilities such as the Australian Synchrotron, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, and the Japanese Super-Ring 8 (Spring-8) facilities in Himeji, Japan.

In the course of completing administration support for this environmental and waste education and consultancy company, I wrote reports, conducted interviews with staff and costumers, presented educational experiences to adults and children, and various office duties (copying, binding, document preparation, etc.). I also designed a series of excel templates using macros to automatically produce formatted reports for clients based on limited inputs, such as initial and final waste and recycling volumes, and contamination rates.
