    Krishna B. Misra is the founder Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Performability Engineering (http://www.ijpe-online.com) started in 2005 and is published by RAMS Consultants (www.ramsconsultants.org) which also was conceived by him in 2005 at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He advanced and popularized the concept of performability which provides a holistic attribute of performance of systems, products and services as will be necessary in 21st Century when the products , systems and services not only would be required to be dependable but also sustainable. The journal is now published by Totem Publisher Inc., U.S.A. since January 2016.

    Reliability Engineering Centre at Indian Institute of Technology , Kharagpur was established by Professor Misra and a master's program was started in 1982, which is still running . This is the only centre in any technical educational institute of higher learning in India. Reliability Engineering Centre offers Ph.D. program as well as Industrial consultancy. Prof. Misra was awarded a plaque by IEEE Reliability Society for his outstanding research and contributions to reliability education in India in 1995. Dr. Misra is also a recipient of the first Lal C. Verman Award in 1983 by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering for his pioneering research work in Reliability Engineering in the country. Prof. Misra is a fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Academy of Engineering, and Safety & Reliability Society (UK).On leave of absence from IIT Kharagpur, he has been Director of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology from 1995 to 1998 and during 1992-1994, he was Director-grade-Scientist at National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur under CSIR. He was also Dean, Institute Planning and Development at IIT, KharagpurProfessor Misra has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Reliability, had served its reviewer for four decades since 1969. He brought out a special issue of IEEE Transactions on Reliability in March 2011 on Reliability and Risk Assessment of Complex Systems. He has also served as Editor of Microelectronics & Reliability published by Pergamon Press, U.K. (later on taken over by Elsevier) for more than 25 years including as its Regional Editor. He also served on the editorial boards of several international journals which include, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, International Journal of Reliability, Quality and Safety Engineering.
