The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education is the governing board for North Dakota's eleven institutions of higher education. The system consists of two research institutions (along with a medical school and law school), four regional baccalaureates, and five two year colleges. Each voting member of the Board is appointed by the governor and approved by the senate for a term of four years.
