A member of the Group Performance team where I am accountable for the assimilation, assurance and interrogation of upstream segment safety performance data. In this role, I work closely with senior executives (Upstream and Group Executive offices). Primary accountabilities are to:• Maintain the integrity of Upstream Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance reporting by providing deep technical expertise on Upstream HSE and Operational Incident reporting boundaries and providing independent guidance on incident classification and reporting.• Manage the development and assurance of Upstream internal reports for all Group HSE metrics.• Support enhancement of the bp incident reporting system (IRIS) to promote effective performance reporting.• Deliver value for the Upstream Functions (GWO, GOO, GPO, and BPX Energy) through proactively managing the quality and availability of HSE performance data.Accountabilities embedded within my current role are:• Interrogation of digital performance data and investigate incidents to identify barrier weaknesses and deteriorating trends. The hourly safety professional’s provide field safety support and manage the site observation and behavioral programs.Turnaround Safety Coordinator – A safety professional embedded in the turnaround organization to ensure safety is planned into all aspects of the turnaround phases and activities.Paramedics – Team consists of a Team Leader and four paramedics who staff the first aid facility on a 24/7 basis. The first aid facility provides medical treatment to all site employees and manages the site drug testing program and case management process.Routine Safety Coordinator – A safety professional accountable to providing safety assurance to the 2,100 proprietary workers.

Root Cause Analysis Team Leader

Developed a Root Cause Analysis strategy and implemented the program across the bp Texas City Site (Refinery and Chemical plant). Developed and delivered RCA training program across the entire organization. Networked with global and local refinery personnel to obtain support for the RCA strategy. Once implemented, led critical RCA’s across the site. Reviewed and evaluated site-wide RCA’s for quality and identified common systemic issues and strategies to alleviate them.While serving in this role I supported the bp internal investigation into the 23 March 2005 Texas City explosion that kill 15 workers and injured over 200.

Project Mechanical Representative

Mechanical representative for the development and construction of a Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) unit. The PSA unit was a grass-roots; $400 million project to build a paraxylene extraction processing unit utilizing new technology. Two years and $10 million into the project I determined that current valve technology was not capable of the of the performance requirements for full-scale PSA production. The project was mothballed and I was recognized for stopping the project prior to it moving to the next phase and thus saving additional money from being spent on a technology that was not technically feasible.
