I joined HSBC Asset Management in the Fixed Income team, tasked with further development of tools and reports used by the Asset Management business to help them track their data better, particularly around Investment Performance measurement.Development skills used are VBA primarily within Excel with SQL Server used as a backend for ETL processes (multiple stored procedures and various queries). Bloomberg is used as our main portfolio management system with back office use of BiSam B-One and Northern Trust. The role consists of meeting, reporting and development for the Front, Middle and Back office within Asset Management and helping fellow performance analysts with their day to day jobs and processes. The job is mainly around providing Fund Managers with necessary analysis and attribution of Fixed Income portfolios, automating all the processes which collate the data and providing support for a dashboard (within Excel with SQL Server backend) which controls all of our processes, including automatic file upload, reconciliation and reporting.

As an Analyst Programmer, I was tasked to help maintain and further develop tools for the Investec Front Office staff to ensure traders/fund managers etc. can complete their daily tasks without hassle and in a more efficient manner. This has taught me alot about how the Finance/Investment sector works.Back-End development is mainly done via SQL Server, including using SQL, T-SQL and performing ETL tasks using SSIS. Front-End was mainly using VBA, either via Microsoft Access or Excel. Also we developed bespoke tools in C#, including the use of Winforms.Engaging with stakeholders is key during any issues and to meet regularly to allow further improvements to be made to current systems and meet stakeholder demand.

Store Stock Planner - Developer
-
Sep 2012 - Apr 2015
I was tasked to help develop and integrate applications and processes within my Store Stock Planning team, manage projects with stakeholders in and out of my team and help fellow workers with any technical difficulties. Some of these tasks involved developing applications from scratch and being part of testing and process management of applications which involved Store Stock Planning in some capacity.Primarily, programming was done in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and integrated with database work (SQL).I also develop the Hubsite for my team on the Tesco intranet. It has been developed via Sharepoint, but also other parts were built outside of Sharepoint (using HTML, CSS, Javascript (primarily jQuery)).
