    The Census of Population and Housing is conducted every 5 years.The Census provides a snapshot of Australia’s people and their housing. It helps estimate Australia’s population, which is used to distribute government funds and plan services for your community.The 2016 Census enumeration model encourages householders to self-respond before follow up visits are required. Field Officers are expected to encourage residents to complete the Census online as it is the preferred method to participate.For the first time the Census will use an address based mail out model to deliver instruction letters to approximately 80% of addresses in Australia. The addresses that form mail out areas have been drawn from the ABS Address Register. The remaining addresses will have their Census materials delivered.Most Field Officers will be using mobile devices to conduct their field work. The Collect Staff Workspace will be used to enter information associated with workloads and to complete administration tasks.
