Responsible for developing editorial ideas and projects in support of Carnegie Corporation of New York’s mission to promote and advance the diffusion of knowledge and understanding as well as maintaining the high editorial standards of the Corporation across all print and digital publications• Help discover and make connections among grantee outputs that reflect the longstanding themes of the Corporation’s grantmaking, helping to conceptualize, create, and package content that highlights the Corporation’s historical role as a convener around ideas and issues through strong storytelling and across multiple platforms and channels• Edit and shape original materials created by Corporation staff and freelance contributors, overseeing the tracking and aggregation of content from the Corporation’s large pool of grantees in the areas of International Peace and Security, Democracy, Education, and Higher Education and Research in Africa• Work closely with Communications department colleagues to explore new avenues for digital publication and repurposing of Corporation content across a wide range of platforms, including social media• Serve as managing Editor/Writer of the Corporation’s flagship print publication, the “Carnegie Reporter”• Serve as assignment Editor/Writer for all freelance writers and content contributors, including the Carnegie Visiting Media Fellows• Conceive, assign, shape, and bring to life compelling content (text, visual, and multimedia) around the Corporation’s work through strategic editorial planning and execution• Work closely with the Manager of Media Relations to forge strong ties with publishing and media partners• Oversee the tracking of published content from grantee organizations using the Corporation’s grants management program• Copy edit official Corporation materials, web content, announcements, releases, and newsletters, and serve as the Corporation’s head writer for special publications and projects as needed

Oversee editing and production of the spring 2016 issue of “Carnegie Reporter,” the Corporation’s “magazine of ideas,” and provide other editorial services as needed. Responsibilities include:• Work closely with commissioned writers (Carnegie Visiting Media Fellows) to edit and shape three feature articles, writing headlines and section headings and identifying sidebars and pull quotes• Assist the Communications Manager in the President’s Office in editing the President’s Letter• Copy edit all contents of the magazine• Coordinate with the Corporation’s lead designer to select and place related artwork for all articles and sections of the magazine, including a feature photo essay (“Center Point”)• Work collaboratively with commissioned illustrators to make sure that illustrations support and augment editorial content• Write the “Recent Events” blurbs as well as any other “departments” of the magazine as determined by the Director of Communications and Content Strategy• Identify ways to repurpose “Carnegie Reporter” content for carnegie.org, the Corporation’s website, and other platforms, including social media• Edit daily “blog” type articles focusing on grantee work for the Corporation’s website• Work with the Corporation’s Communications department and Visiting Media Fellows to conceptualize, assign, edit, and shape the fall 2016 issue of the “Carnegie Reporter,” with a focus on the November presidential elections• Write and edit Corporation materials, both print and digital, as requested
