CFO/Administrative Director
-
Sep 1996 - Present
When I began at the Prosector's Office in 1996, most secretarial work was completed on typewriters. Within six months, I had convinced my boss to install a Windows-based computer system. This enabled the staff to complete their work more efficiently and in less time. Our office also uses software program written specifically for us for the management of our adult and juvenile criminal cases which was in use before I was hired. However, the office was not utilizing the full functions of the software. I have been the driving force behind utilizing the software to its full capability. Now we utilize this software for our calendaring, preparation of subpoenas, notification letters to victims, and for various yearly statistical reports that we have to submit to the Attorney General's Office or our County Commissioners. Fully utilizing this software has enabled us to not replace a full-time legal assistant that left our office. So my implementations have not only automated some of the work our office produces, it also saved money by decreasing the number of employees we need to run our office.Currently, I am responsible for four different bank accounts that I have to maintain and reconcile each month (only the elected official has the authority to sign checks). Since we are a government office, there are various policies and procedures that I must utilize since we are audited every year. Every year I receive compliments from the various audits that my financial books are in excellent shape with the proper documentation. I also responsible for submitting payroll to the county auditor's office and have to track hours, vacation time earned and used, and sick leave earned and used for 18 employees. Since we are a small office, I like the variety of tasks that I do and I know how to do each administrative assistant's duties and can cover for them when they are out of the office if necessary.
