The Massachusetts Brewers Guild is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation, organized for the purposes of promoting craft brewing and protecting the interests of craft brewers in Massachusetts. In this role, I pioneer the role as inaugural full-time Executive Director of the association. Responsibilities include: Create, lead and maintain all infrastructure for the association, from branding, messaging, programming and events to education, partnerships, sponsorships and membership resources. Serve as the spokesperson on behalf of the Massachusetts craft beer industry in the media and on Beacon Hill. Form and maintain relationships with journalists, members of the legislature, association leaders and brewery owners. Develop overall communications strategy, respond to media inquiries and manage crisis communications. Support 230 breweries across the Commonwealth, learn, extract and share their business and character stories. Identify brewers and business owners as spokespeople, provide media training and talking points to drive messaging. Follow trends to integrate local craft beer into compelling storylines and online shares. Position Massachusetts as a number one craft beer destination for consumers. Showcase craft breweries as catalysts for downtown revitalization, revenue generators, and key employers. Manage a diverse team of nine board members, a lobbying agency, content writer, graphic designer, video agency, membership ambassador as well as committee members and volunteers. Write and edit social media content, press materials, internal communications, scripts, grants, hearing testimony and petition materials. Develop decks and deliver presentations to a wide variety of stakeholders.
