If District or Misdemeanor Courts approves treatment plan, coordinates with Prosecution, Defense, jail staff, local organizations, and families for implementation.Oversees all grant writing, grant funding, and operation of the Veterans Treatment Court and Drug Court Programs. Manages the development and implementation of the Social Work Intern Program (Bachelors and Masters level). Collaborates with various universities across the state of Texas and the country to ensure identified candidates are provided proper supervision, tasks, and experiences. Represents the organization and collaborates with governmental and public agency representatives, community outreach and advocacy groups, service providers and others. Plans, develops and directs a variety of community development and community organizing activities.

As a requirement to conclude my Masters in Social Work, I completed a 500 hour practicum. I assisted Bell County's Social Worker in all duties for the Community Supervision and Corrections Division along with Bell County's Veteran Treatment Court. Items I assisted with included:• Provided extensive resources, tailored to individual need, and basic counseling interventions to referred Defendants from Corrections Supervision Officers throughout the Probation Offices at the Fort Hood, Killeen, Belton, and Temple locations• Case managed and followed-up with accrued case load, ensuring the well-being of all clients and providing wrap-around services • Utilized the county's database (AS400) to accurately log detailed case notes to ensure communication is up-to-date among all colleagues• Attended training and continuing education courses based on Cultural Competency, Military Social Work, and Evidenced-Based Practices regarding treating individuals who have sustained extensive trauma• Completed input of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Questionnaire scores for each individual that begins probation, aiding the Director in research and potential grant opportunities• Screened potential candidates for the Veterans Treatment Court, ensuring all paperwork was completed while participating in staff meetings to decide the best avenue for treatment and support• Participated in the monthly orientation for incoming Veterans, explaining the process, requirements, and answering any particular questions individuals may have• Attended Court to provide input on progress of the Veterans enrolled (thus far, there are over 60 within the program)• Continued to build community relationships, remaining active within the area's Veterans Coalition and other Alliances • Most importantly, treated each and every person with dignity and respect, getting to know them, their situation, and their needs, as opposed to simply judging them for their charge

Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries Inc. was one of 12 Goodwill’s in the country that was awarded the Operation: GoodJobs (OGJ) grant program through the Walmart Foundation. OGJ is a pay-for-performance grant that assists military members & their families in finding/maintaining jobs within our community. The program has the potential to reach almost $300,000 in funding & can assist its participants with bus passes, work outfits, certifications, etc. Extensive job-focused services & intensive case management are implemented, along with connections to businesses within the area. A minimum of 300 military members & their families will be enrolled within OGJ with goals of 6 & 12 month retention time tables once a job placement is achieved. The grant is provided within our Mission Services area of Copperas Cove, TX to Waco, TX. Current duties include:• Implementation, staffing, administration, fiscal & programmatic compliance; provide program support as necessary to achieve all program objectives• Conduct intake assessment, referrals, & other case management functions for participants• Work with participants to set goals & identify barriers/obstacles to achieving goals• Assist participants one-on-one in job search, resume writing, interview skills, self-presentation, job-retention, & financial awareness/money management• Recruit, hire & supervise program staff. Provide guidance and support to program staff as required• Work closely with the Finance Department and VP of Mission Services/Workforce Development to assure appropriate budget, fiscal compliance, & administration of programs.• Act as liaison and develop both county-wide & state-wide meetings & initiatives; collaborate extensively with community partners to create classes, hiring events, & other resources to assist individuals within the service area• $268,300 invoiced; over 240 individuals placed in jobs; 192 reached 6 month retention thus far; ~$20K given back to enrollees
