Developed business case for Pistoia Alliance: ‘Bio-Sample Marketplace’Pistoia Alliance is a global, not-for-profit alliance of life science companies, vendors, publishers, and academic groups that work together to lower barriers to innovation in R&D. As a member of their pool of project managers I was given the responsibility of developing a business case for the project ‘Bio-Sample Marketplace’. This required virtual working and interviewing global experts in order to write the Business Case which included: analysis of the situation, competitor analysis, solution options, options appraisal, specification & boundary drawing, market assessment, communications plan, cost - benefit analysis, sustainability plan and conclusions/recommendations.

AstraZenecas' strategy to exit the regulatory standard ‘Good Laboratory Practice’ (GLP) and the merger of two departments (into the Drug Safety and Metabolism department) provided an opportunity to assess, prioritise and rationalise the 265 systems and instruments being used: in order to increase efficiency and reduce costs. This was complicated by the fact that all GLP systems are open to external audit and data must be securely archived for retrieval indefinitely. As Project Manager on this transformational change programme I redefined the already approved Project Charter, developed a consistent decommissioning/transition process for different types of systems/instruments, created and delivered monitoring & reporting systems, conducted risk management planning, ensured stakeholders completed activities to scope, time, cost and quality, identified and secured additional resources, kept stakeholders engaged and managed project meetings.Key Achievements:• Project completed on time and within budget • Total saving $1 Million per annum• Decommissioned 86 systems and instruments • Transitioned 26 systems/instruments from GLP to non-regulated systems/instruments
