Lead MITS Field Technician
-
Jul 2021 - Oct 2021
As a Lead MITS Field Technician, on top of previous duties, I also act as a liaison between the several different departments we work with. Projects, Unified Communications (UC) and the many others in-between at several levels within the company. Communication and careful planning are still the key to making sure things are done promptly. I have been entrusted to train new technicians on my team as well as help with processes and procedures of many other departments. When working with other departments, many calls escalate to me either physically or virtually. These include but are not limited to: problems with firewall and switch configuration; server deployment and troubleshooting; field calls that are causing other technicians troubles, ranging from hardware, software, camera systems and phone systems. I perform site surveys and work with the UC and projects to make sure we order the customer the right product for their environment. Working at several different locations and new environments daily has given me the ability to troubleshoot a wide range of problems on the fly.

Network Field Technician

Sep 2019 - Jul 2021
Traveling to several different companies to respond to trouble calls and projects for multiple departments is a large part of what I do as a Network Field Tech. Because of this, communication and careful planning is key to making sure things are done promptly. A large part of this comes down to setting up projects sometimes weeks in advance and keeping a detailed time of appointments and meetings for each day. My organization allows me to make my appointments for each customer on time and keep customer satisfaction exceptionally high.

Field Service Technician

Idaho Falls, Idaho
While employed at Idaho National Lab, I worked under CRI Advantage. From this position I gained more knowledge with troubleshooting hardware and software, and received more experience in many other technological areas. I communicated technical information to non-technical staff in a way that was easy to understand in an enterprise environment. My expertise was relied on for the set up of Audio and Video for conferences, and I worked to ensure a well-established connection with both parties. I made sure to be thorough in documenting customer problems through Service Now.I assisted in mentoring new hires by guiding them and teaching them the skills they would require. I imaged machines for new hires and walked them through the basics of how the computers worked in our environment.I made sure software on machines was current by updating to the most recent versions of Windows 7 and Windows 10. I also used Active Directory modify account permissions and passwords. Other skills I strengthened through my work here include: assisting users map drivers and add network printers, set up Vantage LED software, Patch network connections and help troubleshoot problems with the Network Operations Center, configure and troubleshoot VPN remote access for end users, and configure and troubleshoot Wi-Fi.While I working here I strove to find the most effective solution to any problem that presented itself. By doing so, I was able to discover solutions to problems that coworkers could not find. One example of this was disconnecting a Surface Laptop from its dock without having it powered on, which has proven useful for troubleshooting problems with these devices.

Quality was my priority when working at this company. No matter my position, I focused on testing the quality of products. I calibrated machinery to maintain consistency of quality.Communication with coworkers was an important and necessary skill when working near large and loud machinery and any problems I saw I communicated to team leads and team members.Testing and handling food required me to keep a clean and orderly workspace. I also documented and input data about products that the company tested and produced. With the positions I held here, I gained experience with prioritizing tasks while multitasking, working as part of a team, as well as gathering, maintaining and inputting clear and accurate data.

As a manager I lead a small team of workers and demonstrated how to maintain workflow to provide the best experience for customers. I assisted with teaching employees the skills required for running an entertainment business such as preparing food, providing positive customer service, handling arcade machines, and preparing the business for opening and closing hours. Although I was hired to work as a manager, my technological expertise meant I was relied on for many other assignments around the arcade. I repaired computers that were required for the business to run and hardened the security to protect sensitive information. I also monitored the network. A new skill I learned while here was how to repair laser tag vests. When a vest malfunctioned I opened it up and manually configured and rewired it to get it working again. This was a skill I enjoyed learning because it exercised my tinkering brain while providing a service to others.
