    I worked with Professor Danyluk on machine learning research. Our area of research was the identification of individual spotted salamanders without the use of invasive chemical tagging. We wanted to be able to identify not whether or not a given picture contained a salamander, but whether these two pictures were of the same salamander. We used machine learning techniques such as genetic algorithms and principle component analysis to optimize our classifier and simplify computation.
