A Family owned and operated authentic Northern Italian restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. One of two restaurants, this location is the original and is expanding to meet the demand of the patrons. The food is fresh and kept to a very high standard, no penny pinching here. We use the finest ingredients available. Now I havent been everywhere for breakfast yet - But We have the best Bacon in Town! This restaurant (one of two with the same owners) is expanding to include a Pizza area. I have see the brand new pizza oven and it is beautiful. I know many of our regulars cant wait as they can sometimes hear the construction through the wall. I was hired as Pantry, but have not worked that station, except for two evenings. I have been prep and support for the breakfast/lunch kitchen. I was overworked and majorly underpaid. They work their staff like slaves not hiring enough people to work. Leaving cleaning up to the cooking staff. Insane would never work for this company again. However the food was good, if slightly over priced.

Good energy. This was a very good spa, with a great location and an even better boss. lily gave off a great vibe that was felt by her regular clients. The spa was unfinished, this was a major draw back. many of the clients expressed remorse at having to go into the next store to use a public restroom. I was sure this would be changed shortly. I think what hurt the business was the large use of discounts, though liked by the clients, hurt the bottom line. I was sad when she closed her doors for good. There were several treatments that I am glad I learned while working here and hope to use again in the future.

We were more of a wellness center, wanting to be a full service spa. Our competition was by over a dozen hair cutting shops, who dabbled in nails and massage. The marketing report that I did said we would be 90% tourist and over 85% swedish massage. This was not the way it worked out. We were 99.8% Deep tissue work and over 90% locals or 6 month residents. We did things differently than any other Spa. First we hated the new 50 minute hours that all spa's get away with. We gave 60 full minutes and if you became regular it became 70 minutes at no extra charge. We used Odoban a more expensive and effective disinfectant than bleach. This allowed us to use better sheets 100% 800 count egyptian cotton jersey blend sheets. Much softer and didnt smell of bleach. We also used 100% Jojoba oil (actually a wax) which is very expensive when pure, but is completely hypoallergenic and odorless. It is also the closest to natural body oils and absorbs readily into the skin, leaving a non greasy feeling like all other massage oils.

We were a traveling Cafe, serving Turkish, French press, drip, flavored, light and dark roast coffee. We also serve a multitude of tea's both cold and hot. The main drink is called a Sharbat, this is easiest explained as a virgin daiquiri. (Ice mixed with natural flavor and blended) We carried a total of 68 flavors, with the ability to mix any two flavors together. The food menu covered standard curries (chicken, beef and vegan), and regular event favorites; including: french fries, Grilled cheese with and without bacon, Stew and chili (beef, venison, vegan) on a revolving basis. We also included a variety of traditional cultural desserts and treats.

Wanted a part time job and this was a nearby newly opened breakfast/lunch cafe. I took a job dishwashing until the cook didnt show one morning. I just jumped in and cooked for the day and it continued from that day on. The place closed because of lack of a good business model and from the owner firing the previous cook. I will leave this by saying :"Small town politics".

    • Bartender/bar manager
      • Mar 2004 - Aug 2006

This was the hardest bartending job I ever held. It was a floating bar on the Lake of the Ozarks. The volume of frozen drinks was staggering. They were prepared with regular blenders and spoon not those new, pour and walk away ones. The money was amazing, but it was earned. I also worked on the side doing side work fixing the leaking roof (always as the waves broke it free over and over). I got a deal on a house and moved out of the area, but sold that and returned. I worked one more season and it was sold and completely changed the style of bar.

Started as a temp job, was hired and then moved so had to resign. This was a very different job, it entailed delivering, and setting up burial vaults and funeral set ups all around the metro Kansas city area. This job gave me a new respect for everyone involved with this industry, because of the intense emotions you have to deal with on a day to day basis.

This was the first job I took after meeting my future wife and moving across the state of Florida from west to east. It was very precise precision work; measuring, cutting bending and assembling RF cable and circuits to military specifications. I was injured outside of work and was laid off do to my inability to get back to work in a short enough time. Shortly there after we moved to Central Missouri.

I took this job having previously been working for the US Dept of the Treasury. The Y2K scare got me thinking: what would be a good safe job if all their worries come to pass? Over the Road Trucking fits that bill, all the computers in the world could fail and those trucks would still run. I had always wanted to learn to drive a big Rig. Movies had a hand in this; convoy and even mad max come to mind. I liked the idea of another useful skill as well. I got to see states I would not of even thought of going to, while driving. I also made stops to see various national monuments. I even got stuck in traffic on the center of Hoover dam waiting for an accident to clear. This made me a much better Car driver than I had been, I recommend this to everyone. I think at the very least the basic tractor trailer test should be given to new drivers. I think this would lessen the accidents between cars and big trucks.

      • Estate catering company on the east end of Long island (Hamptons)

I started catering almost right out of school. I took the job at the Treasury department for the benefits, and ran the catering on the weekends. I specialized in Renaissance weddings, Toga parties (these were huge) and other period feast style events and parties. I had a volunteer staff of waitresses (wenches) who were allowed to attend the parties as guests while they worked. This made this small business quite lucrative and if I hadnt spent it as fast as I earned it, it might have worked. Instead I left it behind when I moved to Florida to be with my fast ageing parents.
