In 2019 - 20 Chef Poon will concentrate on his national and international carving demonstrations and his large group Wok 'N Walk Tours of Philadelphia Chinatown for private groups of students, companies, etc. (20 guest minimum) Meeting location for tours is 10th and Arch Sts, at the Chinese Friendship Gate.     The energetic Chef Poon has entertained Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," visited with Ellen on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" & been named one of TV Food Network's "The Best of..." culinary tours in America. He offers his insider's tour of this vibrant community to teach others about the history, culture and food of Philadelphia's Chinatown. His attitude is contagious and his tours and hands-on cooking classes are fun and exciting. His Wok ‘N Walk tours include two hour visit to venues in Philadelphia's Chinatown community including stops at a fortune cookie factory, a Buddhist Temple, a Chinese bakery to taste amazing bubble tea, an Asian grocery store with fresh seafood, a brief demonstration of nutritional and health benefits of herbs and much more. A full lunch or dinner is enjoyed following this interactive and entertaining tour and private tours for schools, scouts, etc. can be booked for the tour only without a meal. As a James Beard award winning chef, nutritionist, dietician and honorary doctor (SUNY, Oneonta), Chef Poon encompasses the epitome of diversity. He is a spokesperson for the National Watermelon Promotion Board and travels nationally and internationally touting the health benefits of watermelon while amazing and entertaining people with his unique fruit and vegetable carvings. Chef Poon is a philanthropist and can often be found teaching culinary students, participating in fundraising events for non-profit organizations and universities or donating his time and energy to worthwhile causes. Chef Poon provides consulting services to nursing and rehab centers, specializing in nutritional programs and plans for Asian residents in particular.
