The Lakewood Country Club is a private, member-owned, 501c7(not for profit), full service country club located only 10 minutes west of Metro Denver, Colorado. Established in 1908, as one of the oldest golf courses in Colorado, the club originally hired prolific golf course architect, Tom Bendelow, to design the course. In 1916, the Club retained world-renowned golf course architect, Donald Ross, to remodel the original Parkland design. Gil Hanse, a highly regarded Ross restoration expert, has overseen a $3m Master Plan Renovation which started in 2017 and concluded in 2020. The project recreates what Donald Ross saw and designed in 1916.Lakewood has a strong golfing tradition with multi-generational membership and the highest concentration of plus (+) handicap players in the state. As the social hub of the community, it offers activities & programs for the entire family and currently boasts a full golfing membership with a waiting list. The club has approximately 625 member families, generating approximately $11m in gross receipts and $20m in member equity. As Chief Operating Officer, I lead a team of 7 Senior Department Directors and we serve our membership with a loyal and dedicated staff of 180 in peak season.

Lehigh is a private, full service, member owned country club; it was founded in 1910 and enjoys a long and proud tradition of excellence in golf; it is a Distinguished Club of the World, a distinction owned by less than 3% of all private clubs. With 700 member families and total gross receipts of $9.5 million, I led a Senior Management team of 6 and indirectly managed a staff of 220 associates in season, at a nationally recognized Golf Week Top 100, classically designed William Flynn course; 6600 yards-Par 70, 3.5 acres of practice area, hosting 22,000 rounds per year, a robust racquets program with Har-Tru, Hard Courts and Paddle Tennis Courts, along with a 3-Pool Swimming Complex including a competition dive well.In addition, I oversaw a $1m, 2 phased-complex Clubhouse HVAC project, transitioning from an antiquated chiller system to a modern forced air package system, projected to save 20% per year on energy costs. I also oversaw the installation of a comprehensive sub-surface greens drainage system (XDG), extending the useful life of 100 yr old native push up greens, allowing the volunteer leadership of the club to defer a total greens reconstruction project and develop an actionable funding plan.During my tenure, we re-initiated a formal strategic planning process with H. Chambers, completed a 20 year Capital Reserve Study, outlining the clubs asset replacement needs while revealing a long term funding deficiency. This study enabled volunteer club leadership to begin proactively planning to meet those needs in both the short and long term. I also introduced an innovative Membership Marketing Strategy that increased new membership sales by 120% in 14 months, generating an incremental $200k in initiation fees and over $300k in new dues revenue, while increasing/doubling the golf initiation fee in 12 months. These accomplishments were achieved in less than 3 years, while operating within the constraints of an extremely dysfunctional governance model.
