My time at Dimension Data was short due to being seconded to a project based in Dubai for a new company called "du" which I later joined with Dimension Data's blessing. My role and responsibilities as a Security Solutions Architect were:To understand the vision of the customer business, what there core functions, goals and strategies were, how they envisioned that they would succeed and what they would need to do so.To review their existing networks, services, systems and applications and to understand their operation processes, controls and policies.Review their existing security policies and understand which baselines they had defined (operational, systems, applications, etc).Complete a maturity assessment of their information security practice and provide articles for customer review.Once I have a view of their existing environment, systems, processes and policies I would be tasked with completing a GAP analysis and suggestion of a combined technology and process solution which would ultimately raise their security posture, mitigate serious threats and overall reduce risks. The security solution proposal would include articles that supported the findings as well as the value proposition to the customer and provide a logical architecture of each control component, how it was deployed, configured and how the operational model would support the objectives defined as goals.Support of the sales function within the security team at Dimension Data included:1) Consultation at Board, C-Level, Management, Technical operations and Technical projects levels. 2) Presentation of the solution to both business and technical assets within the customer organisation.3) Bid Team member4) Subject matter expert for security sales team.
