Acting Director of Engineering, AATS
-
Oct 2023 - Present
Systems engineering and digital transformation for the space access mission area. Collaborates with SSC Integration Office to transition space systems from stovepiped mission areas to an optimum warfighting Space Enterprise. Within AATS: integrates technical baselines for future spaceports and future on-orbit servicing and mobility missions with the evolution of National Security Space Launch; leads an Innovation program/process designed with workforce transparency foremost; advises PEO on future technology investment and digital transformation.PS: Happy 2024! Stay tuned, the goal(s) this year are to push hard in our new digital engineering development environment and MBSE, with a particular near-term emphasis on experimenting with digital acquisition (e.g. speed up task order awards and reduce human burden), with parallel efforts in automation where it makes sense, and space enterprise-level model/data collaboration. The stretch goal over the next two years is to find means for a 75% improvement in productivity--net across program processes and seeking a win-win for our industry partners as well.

Jul 2013 - Jan 2024
Update March 2022:: SMC 2.0 reorganization in May 2018 has given way to SSC reorganization and "Race to 2026" for the vision directive, Within the Launch organization, my current priorities beyond the day-to-day are to 1) develop an organizational Strategic Plan in order to align several major future-leaning projects and/or concerns, 2) tackle the entropy in our Knowledge Management systems, and 3) 'Find a Way' to improve our onboarding as personnel turn over, as we have to use our ever-decreasing resources more effectively. I'm also the champion for our efforts towards becoming Model Based wherever it makes sense to facilitate speed and accuracy, in order to facilitate both digital engineering and digital acquisition. I'm willing to expend energy and take risks so that we don't remain static and reactive.Current RAAs: Technical baseline management of requirement and interface control documents, process control and improvement for systems engineering and integration functions, mentoring and guidance to 25 government and 90 contractor staff members. Oversees studies for both existing launch vehicle systems and new entrants for military payload launches. Special interests include knowledge management, digital engineering and culture change.
