    ABB is a Swedish-Swiss multinational technology company, operating in robotics, power and automation technology.I was hired to maintain revenue and profitability in a subsequently shrinking market and given full operational control addressing key commercial issues.  Closed two manufacturing facilities and rationalised the manufacturing footprint to Spain, downsizing headcount, initiated cultural transformation, also substantially reducing costs. High calibre management has been recognised internally by the Country Management Team with the award of Business Unit of the Year.

    I developed and expanded market share on a geographically broad installed base by a factor of five in a market experiencing institutionalised corruption and a global economic slump. Doubled business revenues in the initial two years, countering a global mining market downturn. Secured a long-term order platform with the largest mining customer in India, also reducing costly dealings with public sector bodies, and expanding marketing activities to EPCM companies.

    I created a Latin American regional team with full oversight of the newly created Underground Mining Segment for Sandvik in the region. Doubled orders and revenues in the four year period, and integrated national teams with short-term individual secondments to other countries, significantly increasing teamwork. Led negotiations for a Technology Cooperation agreement with large a state-owned mining enterprise, and successfully introduced new mechanical hard rock cutting technology.
