The Old Inn, Widecombe in the Moor DartmoorBusy country pub in the middle of Dartmoor with capacity for 3000+ meals weekly (busiest single service 486 lunches on my last August Bank Holiday - average wait time for food 12 minutes!!). Good value home-cooked pub food with a few upmarket touches and particularly renowned for our locally sourced steaks, cut and cooked to order.

Initially set up as freelance relief chef based in Cambridge early contracts included an 18 month Head Chef stint with Forte at Huntingdon, working with several of the Cambridge colleges on specific functions (including the Honorary Degree Day lunch for Corpus Christi with Prince Philip on the top table), outside catering including sub-contract work at Newmarket races and private dinner parties. Worked with Post Office Catering (Quadrant) as opening Chef/Manager at the new sorting office in Cambridge and then took on a lease at The Woodman, Duddenhoe End, Essex. Moved to West Country in 1996 with relief positions including The Buckerell Lodge, Exeter (for whom I still do odd stints), Two Bridges Hotel, Dartmoor, Red Lion, Clovelly and the Ilchester Arms, Ilchester - all of these latter were rosetted during my time with them.
