Writing is now focused on Thrillers, starting with The Phoenix Assassin-a Vietnam Thriller (Rik Olson/Viking 6 Thriller 1)Continues interest and work in bioterrorism, counter terrorism and special operations.He was Senior Adviser for Bioterrorism to the Congressionally-mandated Reserve Forces Policy Board from shortly after the 9/11 attack to the end of 2004. During the Vietnam War, he served as a special operations officer and was awarded Airborne Jump Wings, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Bronze Star.He enjoys Cool Jazz, and he is an avid (but coordination-challenged) golfer. He also builds customized, high tech golf clubs for his friends, who also need all the help they can get.

John D. Blair was the first to hold the Georgie G. and William B. Snyder Professorship in Management in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. Earlier, he was the first to hold The Trinity Company Professorship in Management and Healthcare Strategy. He is also Professor of Health Organization Management in the School of Medicine. His recent research focuses on bioterrorism issues within the broader context of homeland and infrastructure terrorism and preparedness. His book (with Myron D. Fottler and Albert C. Zapanta) is entitled Bioterrorism Preparedness, Attack and Response and was published by JAI/Elsevier in late 2004. He is Founding Co-Editor of the Advances in Health Care Management Series.His earlier graduate studies at Columbia University were interrupted for military service from 1968-1971. His doctoral work was completed at the University of Michigan where he combined organizational and political sociology in the study of military organizations within their political and social context. His later interests in healthcare organizations combined with this earlier focus to support his current interest and focus on bioterrorism and homeland security.
