    Worked alongside Carlyle and management during the Carlyle investment cycle to secure a strong exit at £1.8 Billion in 2021 and continued with the company following Jacobs' investment in the business via a PE Structure. Worked to ensure a smooth transition from the former to the new CEO as part of a planned succession process. The business has gone from strength to strength and continues to prosper with the PA Partners and Jacobs as co-investors.

    Joined HKA as Chairman as part of the carve-out of HKA by Bridgepoint and the management team from Hill International. Worked closely with the Bridgepoint team and supported the key senior leadership to complete a successful transition to a stand-alone business. Supported the team as they built on a strong reputation and platform to position HKA as the world's pre-eminent claims management and expert witness consulting business for major capital project, construction industry and commercial damages clients. Helped leverage this growing reputation to deliver excellent organic and M&A growth and to improve business performance. This enabled Bridgepoint to exit in 2022 , securing a very strong return, when PAI invested as the new PE co-owner alongside management. Have continued with HKA during the PAI investment cycle and the business continues to go from strength to strength.

    John was Chairman of ERM for the period 2017 to 2019 having previously served as CEO from 2008. He has lived in Australia, Belgium, the UK and the Middle East and has worked on projects worldwide. ERM, is the world’s leading Environmental and Sustainability Consulting firm. It is a Partnership with some 5,000 staff in 150 offices in 45 countries and total revenues of US$1 billion and has been through a series of successful Private Equity investment cycles.John led ERM through 2 MBOs securing strong exit returns for and attractive investments from leading Private Equity investors. During this period the company increased in value from some $500 million to more than $1.7 billion. Through this period John helped bring the ERM Partners along, with the new investors with the ERM Partners retaining some 40% of the equity in the business over this 10 year period.As part of the above, John guided the company through 2 cycles of developing and implementing new growth strategies which saw ERM become recognised as the world's pre-eminent Sustainability consulting firm. The growth journey included some 10 acquisitions at values of up to $100 million. To support the above, the company also secured new credit ratings from S&P/Moody's and raised (and returned) some $1 billion in leverage finance. John ran a succession process to identify and appoint his successor and stepped down as Chairman some 2 years after handing-over the CEO role. The business secured further investment from KKR at the latest transaction in 2021 which valued the business at some $2.8 billion.
