  San Francisco Roommate Referral Service

    Established the first centralized database of available roommates and roommate situations in San Francisco. Designed an innovative (pre-Internet) roommate matching telephony system that allowed clients to find roommates in the Bay Area by telephone, prior to relocation. Designed an interactive, computerized, e-commerce capable database to allow clients to register, pay, and find matching roommates, Bay Area-wide, over the Internet. Transitioned this business from index cards to in-office computerization, to telephone matching, to the Internet. Supervised a staff of eight.Voted “Best Way to Find a Roommate” by the SF Bay Guardian Readers’ Poll. Sold to national firm in 2002.

    The SF Bay Area's best-known ballroom and dance studio for twenty years.Directed promotion and publicity, wrote advertising copy, and published a monthly newsletter — responsible for graphic design, writing, editing, and photography. Re-designed interior and supervised remodel. Directed recruitment of key personnel and supervised a staff of five. Directed innovative curriculum for the studio, provided dance instruction for large groups, individuals, and couples, performed and competed. Responsible for renting space to sub-tenants.Promotional efforts resulted in the Avenue Ballroom being profiled in local and national media, including feature stories in the San Francisco Chronicle, on KGO-TV’s Front Row Video, KRON’s World of People, KTVU’s Segment 2, and Channel 5’s Evening Magazine.
