    The First Step House is a non-profit eight-bed alcoholic men's halfway house that facilitates 12-step work. The House does not receive any government funding or take insurance payments, it is self-supporting by donations. Sponsors can rely on the House to feed and shelter their residents in a safe environment and have a place to work with their sponsees. The House also hosts 20 AA meetings a week. Residents handle day-to-day maintenance of the House and grounds as well as attend regular AA meetings when not working or looking for work during the day. In this way residents learn a new way of living including responsibility and accountability.I helped manage the First Step House property, residents and daily operations, prepared nightly meals for the residents and officially represented the House in a decades-old tradition of responsibility and service.As the sole employee and full-time resident of the First Step House Inc., the custodian interacts with residents and potential residents, AA sponsors, board members, meeting attendees and the general public in order to keep things running smoothly and safely.
