      In this role I conducted qualitative and quantitative research into the communication of statistical uncertainty to decisions makers. Additionally I supervised the work of junior research staff who contributed to the development of an online simulation. This project is being conducted in collaboration with Cancer Council Queensland.I utilised qualitative methods, including focus groups, to elicit audience needs and how they understand statistical uncertainty within the context of cancer incidence and survival throughout QLD. Specifically, this research explored the communication of statistical insight and statistical uncertainty presented in a map format.Quantitative methods were used to analyses results from an online simulation that evaluated differences in behaviour when participants were presented with statistical information with or without uncertainty. I utilised R for data wrangling and standard statistical analysis and visualisation. The research is still ongoing.
