    Primarily keep a constant attention to potential residents in need of redirecting. During regular daily basis, there are activities, computer/library rooms, a snack shop, & an open park / walking area for nursing home residents to enjoy. While as a guard you are posted in any of the positions throughout the building, you are to ensure that residents, as well as employees, comply to the rules & regulations of the state & facility. During COVID-19 quarantine however, the activities & recreational rooms are closed until further notice. The need for security rose to maintain orderly fashion in the building. Focus changed from instead of helping a resident down the hall to their room or reprimanding another for lude behavior, to scolding an employee for not sanitizing their hands when required, or for not following social distancing protocols of 6ft apart. A huge part of this security guard position is the ability to be attentive to detail & of one’s surroundings. Another part is staying up to code on all the facilities rules & new in-services on protocols on rules, infractions, or infection control purposes.

    Distribute either beverages, food, paper napkins or condiments in the food carts onto the trays. Each food cart had about thirty trays (two sides of fifteen each) which then would be brought to wings of nursing home to be distributed. Apart from getting the meals prepared (setting up different carts with side items from pantries or refrigerators), breaking down after & cleaning the retrieved carts would be a task of an assigned position between meals. Other smaller tasks like refilling paper napkin / cutlery / condiment cart with all its items or wrapping up clean cutlery was also a daily task.

    The front desk/receptionist side of the job: Greet clients, instruct clients on sign in if needed, manually sign in each client into computers (front desk & exam room) as needed, answer phone, take care of any faxes, make copies of original documents when needed. The Veterinary Assistant/Technician aspects: Bring each client and file in with them to exam room, clean exam room and prepare room in-between each patient, assist veterinarian during exam by restraining patient for; cleaning ears, trimming nails, taking vital signs, drawing blood, and administering medication/ IV fluids, complete forms and labeling for lab work and when distributing medications, prepare/mix medications for clients when directed by veterinarian, assist veterinarian in surgeries; handing proper instruments, adjusting light and anesthesia, and monitoring vital signs with visual/auscultation(stethoscope). There were also Animal Husbandry responsibilities; walk any dogs in hospital for board twice daily, replace food/water/bedding as needed. Then end of day procedures; cleaning rooms, sweeping, restocking surgical/exam/front desk room supplies, mopping all floors, and taking out garbage. Lastly, there was an unknown/unexpected responsibility to this job. From 3:45PM every weekday and every weekend, part of the job was to also monitor, play with and generally entertain the Veterinarian’s youngest daughter.
