    Graduate student with Dr. Heinrich Volschenk.Project title: The rational engineering of a ß-fructofuranosidase enzyme to produce higher DPfructooligosaccharides.○ Using homologous recombination to introduce substitutions and deletions within a gene toexpress the mutated enzymes.○ Expression of mutated genes in S. cerevisiae and purifying the His-tagged proteins usingNi-NTA coupled to an AKTA.○ Fluorescent-based techniques was used to characterize mutated enzymes physical properties.○ Using assay to assess the mutated enzymes product formation as well as it’s catalytic rate.○ I performed analysis on multiple equipment (HPLC, qPCR, PCR and AKTA).○ Performed Statistical Analysis (ANOVA) on the results obtained in order to compare theresults.
